Hypothetically, if my phone had not died, and I was able to do the "export", what exactly would that do? It would produce a QR image? What's behind that QR encoded image? Does it include everything that's in Google Authenticator at the moment?Īlso, do I have to keep that export fresh? For example if I made an export on a Monday, then added two more sites to the app on a Tuesday, would I have to repeat the export if I plan on doing a factory reset of the phone on a Wednesday to catch the codes for the newly added two sites? Or is there some base or master key I can export to recover everything later on? I have also lost access to all my "authenticator" type of apps, including Google Authenticator which is the main one I used. Only burst shot photos, other specialty photos, screenshots, file downloads, and some app files are stored on the internal memory and are gone now (some of which I want back, some not). Thanks to this simple and underestimated innovation, most of my photos were saved to that card and are safe now. Which is very nice! Since this was an old Samsung Galaxy phone, it had a microSD slot with a memory card inside. I have recovered all of my voice recordings, and thousands of messages and call logs. Meanwhile, I have purchased a new phone and I'm trying to piece my digital bits back together. I'd say there's a 50% chance he can breath new life into it, but it's going to cost me. I have sent it in to a pro for repair or data recovery. Unfortunately I was deprived of such opportunity. Like that guy who was smart enough to post a question before pressing the button to factory reset his phone. I have seen some of the questions and answers that others have posted here regarding Google Authenticator. I did not do any kind of export or backup just before it passed away. This is a very common problem with many of these "smart" phones, I learned later on. Only sign of life was the charging indicator LED, which continued to shine red/orange even after disconnecting it, and continued to do so until the next morning. I connected it to a charger and when I came back 20 minutes later, it was not responding.
